But where else could we see elephants, lions or giraffes in such close proximity? Wisconsin zoos are much more affordable than an international safari! While today is Zoo Lover’s Day, feel free to enjoy these family-friendly venues any day of the year!

Milwaukee County Zoo – Milwaukee

With over 200 wooded acres, Milwaukee County Zoo has a strong commitment to conservation and is home to over 2,000 animals! The zoo features species from all over the globe and many of the exhibits are organized by continent. You can also enjoy a large Aquatic and Reptile center that features fish, amphibians and reptiles from all sorts of different bodies of water from around the world. Feel free to get in on the action with hands-on exhibits and the interactive activities such as a petting zoo, live shows and pony and camel rides. There is so much to do here! Don’t forget to take the fun train ride around the zoo to see a whole new perspective or the sky glider to wave hi to the animals!

Henry Vilas Zoo – Madison

Besides being a wonderfully accredited zoo, it is completely FREE! Spread out over 30 acres, they have some big exhibits featuring Discovering Primates, the Big Cat Complex, the Tropical Rainforest Aviary and more! One of the state’s finest zoos, the Vilas family stipulated that it will always be admission free, thanks to community support, which is amazing for families! Children will have a chance to feed animals, learn about the animals they are seeing and take a trip on the train or carousel. With all of this to offer, why not come back soon?

Irvine Park Zoo – Chippewa Falls

Want to know a fun fact about this zoo? It’s FREE! Over 300 acres of family fun and animals and admission will cost you nothing. The wide variety of animals in a beautiful and educational setting means your entire family will enjoy it! The zoo has been concentrating on growing and now includes bobcats, cougars and black bears. The petting zoo and duck pond are the most popular exhibits for the children. The zoo is also a beautiful park with a scenic dam, picnic facilities and historical buildings. Make sure to come back during the holidays, the park is decorated with displays and more than 100,000 lights that entice people from all over to come see! This is one zoo you can’t miss!
